今や世界から注目されるJAPANESE CURRY。
アメリカではPERFECT FOODと言われ、英国ではKATSU CURRYが国民食といわれる人気を博し、アジア各地でも日式咖哩飯は注目の飲食ビジネスとなりつつあります。ですが、肝心の日本から海外へ、今の日本の多様なカレー文化がまとめて発信される機会はとても少ないのが現状です。
一方国内では、コロナ禍における飲食打撃の中、カレーという食ジャンルの逞しさが目立ってきています。様々な食材を取り入れることができフードロスが少ない特性、テイクアウトやデリバリー、冷凍にも適した特性、異なる文化や食ジャンルをクロスオーバーできる特性。酒類提供ができない居酒屋やBARがランチや間貸しでカレーを提供する場面も一層増えており、「食のオルタナティブ」としてのカレーはますます注目されていくことでしょう。
今回が初開催となるJAPANESE CURRY FESTIVALでは、全国から個性的なカレー店を招聘し、ニッポンカレーの現在を渋谷に集結。ニッポンカレーが拓く未来を模索するイベントも開催します。ニッポンのカレー文化を、ニッポンから国内外へ発信する。その端緒となるべく、盛り上げていきたいと思います。
